The Aberdeenshire coast is a fantastic habitat for wildlife. Here are some of the birds and other animals we spotted during our half term break. We’ve played in the rock pools at Johnshaven, walked the coast to Gourdon and Inverbervie, spotted gulls, Kitiwakes and guillemots at RSPB Fowlsheugh and watched herons, eider ducks and common terms at Montrose Basin.

The puffins, seals and otters may have eluded us, but the dolphins paid us a visit off the coast at Johnshaven on our morning as we were packing up!
